TYM is your preparation for Confirmation and covers pertinent topics for formation prior to the celebration of the Sacrament. Preparation for Confirmation remains a 2-year process, typically beginning in 9th grade. Those in the immediate year of preparation (Year II), will have periodic Sacrament-specific evening workshops and reflections due, as well as other criteria to participate in before Confirmation. You can find a complete schedule of due dates, other benchmark criteria (interviews, retreat, parent/teen sessions), and access to paperwork under the Confirmation tab on the parish website.
As always, it is important to remember that participation in youth ministry moves beyond Sacrament preparation. TYM offers opportunities for faith, fun, fellowship and service that empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our world today!
TYM is blessed with the opportunity to collaborate and serve alongside a variety of organizations and in-house ministries. Through our retreats and service days, some of these opportunities include working with Catholic Charities Food Pantry, Food Justice Community Garden, Keep Durham Beautiful, Letter & card making for the sick and housebound, etc.
Some of our past community partnerships served vulnerable and medically fragile populations. We will continue to monitor the status of returning to these facilities. In the meantime, we will continue to be creative in our we live out Matthew 25 and Works of Mercy.
Both JYM & TYM will take place on Sundays, beginning September 19th, in the De Sales Center. JYM will be held from 3:30 PM-5:00 PM and TYM will be held from 6:30 PM-8:00 PM. For more information or updates, make sure to check out our individual JYM & TYM calendars located on the parish website, and highlighted on their pages.
