The feast of St. Jane de Chantal (August 12), one of the spiritual patrons of our parish, reminds me of her words in a letter of spiritual direction, “Live joyously and courageously, never doubting that Jesus Christ is entirely yours.” St. Jane understood that Christ is the source and summit of all our joy. This gives us both the reason and the desire to celebrate, which is exactly what we will do as a parish on August 27, beginning with the 5:30 pm Saturday evening Mass. With the Bishop as the principal celebrant, we will give thanks for the dedication and sacrifice of the hundreds of parishioners who built the new church, for the one-year anniversary of the dedication of the new church, and for our 52nd anniversary as Holy Infant Catholic Community. Our worship and festivities on August 27 are our chance to show our gratitude to God and to one another. The Mass will be followed by food and fun and will feature music and a 17-foot-high water slide; bring your bathing suits, St. Jane would! Peace, Father Robert |
