How do I become Catholic?
Everyone has a unique faith journey. We are happy to help you discern if embracing the Catholic faith is the next step on your journey.
The Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA) is designed for adults and children who have reached the age of reason (around age seven) who are interested in becoming Catholic. People who are unbaptized or have been baptized in another Christian faith tradition are fully initiated into the Catholic Church during this process, celebrating baptism (if needed), First Eucharist and Confirmation.
The first step is attending an inquiry session, held at Holy Infant on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month. Inquiry is a time where members of the OCIA team are available to answer any questions you might have about the process of becoming Catholic or the Catholic Church more generally -- no long-term commitment required.Inquiry is held in the Parish Office Living Room in the building across the parking lot from the main worship space. Order of Christian Initiation adapted for children
Unbaptized children who have reached the age of reason (age 7 and older) follow the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults. The preparation process is adapted according to the developmental level of the child. The initiation process reaches its culmination with the celebration of all three sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
Baptism of children under the age of seven follows the guidelines for the Baptism of Infants.
