Our Food Justice Garden ministry takes great care in planning and growing the food in ways that work with and prevent harm to the environment. Each week, we will explore a different way that the garden is doing this. This week, learn about how our busy bees are helping the environment and increasing our ability to feed Durham.
Every third Sunday of the month is Mercy Sunday in Family Formation. This month, families learned about our food justice garden and started seedlings to plant at home or in the garden.
Volunteers are the key to success for the garden which has produced nearly 25,000 pounds of food since 2013. Are you interested in taking the reins for this ministry?
As summer winds down, volunteers are planting fall crops and need help with weeding, watering and harvesting. Join us on Tuesday and Saturday mornings in the garden!
At 2,300 pounds of food harvested so far this year, the Holy Infant Food Justice garden has already produced nearly as much as the total yield for all of 2019. And it’s all been donated to local food pantries.
