The
Society of St. Andrew donated 500 pounds of potatoes to the Holy Infant Food Justice Garden’s Lettuce Pray program this month.
The Society of St. Andrew is a hunger-relief nonprofit that gleans fields to help reduce food waste and share healthy food with millions of Americans who live in poverty. Holy Infant ministry members distributed the potatoes to our local food pantry partners the day after it was “very happily received,” Bobi Gallagher said.
“We welcome anyone who would like to help or to come out to have a picnic or meditate at the wooden picnic table in the shade,” Bobi said. “We have some wonderful young helpers and interns in the garden.”
Volunteers are currently harvesting pounds of green beans as well as onions and garlic. Potatoes grown in the Food Justice Garden totaled 115 pounds in June. Tomatoes and peppers are just starting to come in.
Thank be to God for our workers, our bees and our bounty!
