Overview

Originally, the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales were founded in France in 1876 to live and spread the uniquely accessible and optimistic spirituality of St. Francis de Sales by engaging in various ministries of the Church.  At the pope's request, the Oblates sent missionaries to Namibia in 1882.  Today, Oblate priests, brothers and sisters also staff missions in Ivory Coast Benin, South Africa, Namibia, Brazil, Uruguay, Haiti, Mexico, Ecuador, and India.  We serve some of the poorest people in the world as parish priests, ministers, educators, and social workers.

American Catholics have partnered with us in this important ministry for more than 100 years.  Every benefactor becomes a missionary - directly supporting works of justice, mercy and evangelization throughout the world.  They also become faithful disciples of Christ, who said, "Truly, I tell you you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me." (Mt. 24:40)

May we be that community of missionary disciples, as Pope Francis wrote in Evangelii Gaudium, "who take the first step, who are involved and supportive, who bear fruit and rejoice."

How You Can Help

Visiting priest, Fr. Bennedick Van Wyk, OSFS will be speaking at all masses this weekend (August 4th and 5th) on the Oblate Mission Appeal.  In order to enhance and maintain their holy ministry, there will be a second collection.
