OUR FAITH JOURNEY: Children's Liturgy of the Word

Children's Liturgy of the Word leaders will gather to prepare for the upcoming faith development year on August 18.

The celebration of the Mass is at the heart of the Catholic Faith. And we want children to experience this in a focused environment where they are more likely to become conscious, active listeners and responders to God’s Word.

On most Sundays during the school year, children of the parish are invited to join Children’s Liturgy of the Word after the opening prayer. Because this ministry takes place during the 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. liturgy, it’s an ideal ministry for parents. The liturgy is geared toward 3 to 6-year-olds who are sent off with a blessing and then return to their families for the Liturgy of the Eucharist.

This ministry is actively seeking volunteers. Help every Sunday or on a rotating schedule—it’s your choice! Prayer leaders use a Children Lectionary for the readings & Psalm, as well as a Weekly Resource guide. As a prayer leader or assistant, you are a channel of God’s Word, accompanying the children of our parish on their faith journey, listening to them as they share their own experiences of God’s presence in their lives.
