On February 17, as parishioners arrived for Ash Wednesday Mass, a crane hoisted our 700-pound steel cross to its new home. The cross that has been in many spots around the Holy Infant campus now rests atop our new church.
Originally, the cross was mounted to the church when it was built in 1970. After the fire on August 8, 1981, it was removed and planted in the ground near Highway 54.
The cross is now sitting at the peak of the roof bolted to large steel mounting plates. Workers trimmed the bottom of the cross to fit the new space. Above the roof, the cross is 15' high and 8' wide. There is 7' of the cross inside the roof structure.
