January Faith First: A Night with the STARS

On the Feast of the Epiphany, gifts and talents were brought to life as parishioners of all ages were the stars of the stage.

The Christmas season is a season of celebration, including the Feast of the Epiphany of the Lord.  We recall the visit of the Magi to the newborn Jesus:

“And behold, the star that they had seen at its rising preceded them, until it came and stopped over the place where the child was. They were overjoyed at seeing the star, and on entering the house they saw the child with Mary his mother. They prostrated themselves and did him homage. Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh” (Matthew 2:9–12).

The Epiphany of Jesus teaches us that Jesus’ coming into the world was important to the whole world and that the Good News of Jesus Christ is meant for everyone!  Just as the three kings brought precious gifts to the baby Jesus, we too are called to share our gifts and talents with all!

The Magi Lounge Talent Show was truly a multi-generational event, showcasing the talents of parishioners of all ages.  Talents included piano performances, magic tricks, jokes/riddle telling, a dramatic declamation, the garbacello, poetry, singing while flying a drone, a duet on the clarinet, a solo on the recorder, a rapping youth minister, a performance on the violin, a karate kata, several singing-guitar duets, a guitar solo, and improv acting.  A good time was had by all!

Heavenly Father, we thank you for the talents you have given us.  We know that every person is gifted with different abilities and that all good thing comes from you.  May we never take for granted the unique talents you have given us.  Help us to focus on our gifts and not our shortcomings.  Move our hearts to be motivated to do what we can with what you have given us.   We want invest our gifts wisely & use our talents for your glory, Lord.  We ask this through Your name.  Amen.
