Families discover ways to listen to God's call to Vocations

This past Sunday, families gathered together for the November Faith First all about Vocations & our call to holiness.

To commemorate National Vocations Awareness Week, families gathered in the church for a Q & A session with Oblate Seminarian Joseph McDaniel and Sr. Kelly Williams, RSM.  Children of all ages asked thought provoking questions including what it's like to be a sister/seminarian, how did they hear God's call to Vocations, and how to inquire about Vocations in someone is interested.  Families then shared a meal together & broke into small groups for further discussion.  Our middle school youth (JYM) performed a play on Jonah & his call to follow God's will.  The children & youth learned that discernment meanings making choices with God's help.  They also learned the five steps of discernment: asking, praying, listening, waiting & doing.  The adults met with Lori & Mike Williams, parents of Sr. Kelly Williams, RSM.  During their presentation, parents were encouraged to talk about their own faith and pray for vocations in the home, as well as to invite priests and religious into their home.  The event concluded by praying a Prayer for Vocations together.
