Construction has begun! Due to tree removal on our campus, some parking areas may be unavailable for weekend Masses on September 15 and 16. Signs will direct you to additional parking available in the lots across Southpark Drive.

Faith First: Kick off to the Summer of Service

Parishioners shared their service experiences at the June 2 event.

Parishioners honored 12 graduating seniors and learned about service opportunities in the area on June 2 at our Faith First event.

Serving others doesn’t always need to be a big event, said Leanne Woodward, assistant director of faith development. As St. Francis de Sales said: "Great works do not always come our way but every moment presents us with opportunities to do little ones with excellence."

Isabella Cohen, a graduating senior who will attend Western Carolina University in the fall, echoed that sentiment as she shared her service experiences.

“Service has also kept me connected with my community at large by letting me explore different ways I could help someone even if it’s just by holding the elevator or helping a classmate with an assignment,” she said.

She said the smiles on kids’ and parents’ faces at the Ronald McDonald House and Duke Children’s Hospital made her feel as if she’d done something wonderful. TYM youth regularly paint windows at Duke Children’s Hospital and bake cookies and call Bingo for Ronald McDonald House residents.

Parishioner Julio Revueltas said hearing about the Ronald McDonald House mininstry moved him the most.

"Seven years ago, I used their Duke Hospital Family Room while my son was in the hospital ... I am researching ways, that I may be able to serve at the Ronald McDonald Family Room, at Duke Hospital," he said.

Another parishioner, Renee Stoj, said hearing experiences from those involved with different ministries gave her family new insights.

"We hope this summer will be an excellent example of how we can be more like Jesus," she said.
