Did you know that Holy Infant is the oldest Oblate of St. Francis de Sales parish in North Carolina?
January 24, the feast of St. Francis de Sales, holds special meaning for our community, the oldest parish served by the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales in the state.
St. Francis’s life and legacy are greatly regarded by the Catholic Church, so much so that he is considered one of the Doctors of the Church. Many holy men and women have followed his Salesian Spirituality including many saints.
These Salesian saints include St. Jane De Chantal, St. Leonie Aviat, St. Margaret Mary, St. John Bosco and the founder of the Oblates, Blessed Louis Brisson. His legacy continues in the Oblates themselves, the Sisters of the Visitation of Holy Mary, the Daughters of St. Francis de Sales and in Oblate parishes just like ours.
Many thanks to the Knights of Columbus for preparing a delicious, French-inspired meal, our teen servers who helped create a restaurant-like atmosphere, and to Lori Graham who shared her gift of writing by creating the scripts for the performance. A special thanks to our actors Matt Wolfe and Lynn Sale who portrayed the life and legacy of St. Francis and St. Jane with joy, enthusiasm and humor.
