The 2020 Durham CROP Hunger Walk's steering committee has decided to host the April 5 Walk virtually this year. This decision was made in accordance with N.C. Department of Health and Human Services' mitigation recommendations and the CDC's guidelines for responding to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Introducing the VIRTUAL CROP Hunger Walk
Below are excerpts from Durham CROP Hunger Walk coordinator, Kaaren Johansen's messa:
"What does that mean? You and your team should NOT gather at Duke Campus on Sunday, April 5th. There will be no event on campus. It's important we avoid large gatherings in order to accord with the CDC's recommendations for COVID-19 mitigation."
Continue to make donations online at Holy Infant's CROP Hunger Walk page. We are currently brainstorming ways for Holy Infant to participate in an alternate way.
Johansen gave several ideas for participating in an alternative way:
Hike on a local trail where social distancing is possible.
Contact one of our local recipient agencies to see how you can help with their changing volunteer needs.· Come up with an idea of your own--and share it
Record yourself talking about why the CROP Walk is important to you. Post it using #EndHungerNow and #VirtualDurmCROPWalk. (The National CWS office may share it! Remember to wear your T-Shirts! Make sure to tag your friends and potential donors and include your personal/team fundraising page link.)
Note: Shirts will still be available every Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to noon at the trailer behind St. Paul’s Lutheran Church 1200 W Cornwallis Rd) until April 4.
