The spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and an active flu season is prompting each of us to take precautions to protect ourselves and our families. Holy Infant is a parish that often expresses its welcome and warmth through physical gestures. Because we care about the health of our parishioners and visitors, especially those who are most vulnerable, we are encouraging the following actions:
Before Mass: Acknowledge people near you without shaking hands.
The Our Father: Do not hold hands during the Our Father.
The Exchange of Peace: Avoid handshakes or fist bumps. A simple nod to those around you is sufficient.
Reception of Holy Communion: Receive the Body of Christ in the hand ONLY, not on the tongue, for the protection of our Eucharistic ministers and the next person who receives. Sanitizer is available to Eucharistic ministers to protect Mass attendees during the distribution of the Eucharist.
As a reminder, Holy Communion will only be served in the form of bread. The Precious Blood will not be available until the flu season and pandemic have passed. Be assured that Christ is fully present in each element of the Eucharistic Sacrament.
Here's how
you can help protect our community:
Stay home from Mass if you are feeling sick. You are not obligated to attend Mass when you are ill.
Wash your hands frequently, cover your coughs and sneezes with a tissue or your arm, and refrain from touching your face.
Currently, all scheduled parish activities including daily Masses will proceed as planned. We are monitoring the situation locally and will take appropriate measures as necessary to protect the health of our community. Watch our website, the bulletin and your email for information about cancellations or closings.
