Bishop's Annual Appeal: Priesthood, marriage and formation feed hunger

Your gift helps satisfy yearning to know more about the faith.

In the midst of challenges, Bishop Luis Rafael Zarama says the people of the Diocese of Raleigh have much to celebrate.

“Growth in numbers is wonderful but most important are brothers and sisters who help one another become more holy. The diocese is thankful and celebrates this every day!” Bishop Zarama said.

Bishop Zarama says that people want to know their faith better.

“They are hungry for love – to let the light of Christ shine. We need to help each other satisfy that hunger,” he said.

Through the vocations of marriage and the priesthood and formation programs, the diocese is growing and helping to satisfy that hunger for holiness. In 2018:

  • Three men were ordained to the priesthood for the diocese.
  • Couples celebrated over 4,000 years of marriage last year. (Our own parish recently celebrated the marriages of parishioners.)
  • More than 7,000 students attended a Catholic school.
  • 31,000 received catechesis and faith formation
