FMF donations

The Families Moving Forward (FMF) ministry recently hosted a "Barrels of Joy" donation drive at Holy Infant with outstanding results. "Barrels of Joy was a great success! Over 400 personal care and household items were donated, as well as enough bedding (sheets, blankets, comforters etc) to completely furnish 14 beds for new incoming families! It was an overwhelming response," said Mary Vinson, FMF ministry coordinator.

In a thank you note addressed to the Holy Infant Community, Catherine Pleil, Director of Partnerships and Programs at FMF, said, "We have been blown away by the generosity of the community at Holy Infant Catholic Church! Your Barrels of Joy initiative has truly made a difference in the lives of the families we serve... Having these items on hand allow us as an organization to meet the immediate needs of the families we connect with as they arise. You have helped ensure that no one is without!"

FMF offers a temporary home to families with children in the crisis of homelessness. Families receive access to programs that help them build skills to return to a stable lifestyle and permanent housing as quickly as possible. FMF relies on community support and donations to serve Durham families in need. Holy Infant is a partner congregation to Families Moving Forward.

In addition to the "Barrels of Joy" drive, the FMF ministry organized two other events in February. They served a catered meal to families at the FMF shelter and prepared and served a meal to families attending an evening program.
