Faith Development

The Faith Development Commission helps to discern the faith development needs of parishioners at all stages of faith life. The purview of this commission is the Rite of the Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), all sacramental preparation, and faith formation of all members of the Holy Infant community at every stage of Christian life. To learn more about serving in our Faith Development ministries, go to "Serving as a Catechist" or contact the Director of Faith Development.

SACRAMENTAL PREPARATION

Sponsor Couple Program for Marriage Preparation

The Sponsor Couple program enables an engaged couple to share and learn from day-to-day experiences of a Christian married couple. As part of a couple-to-couple approach to marriage preparation, the sponsor couple encourages and supports the engaged couple in much the same way as sponsors for Baptism and Confirmation.

Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) Catechist

The RCIA catechist is part of a team that prepares and leads catechetical sessions in preparation for the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, 1st Eucharist and Confirmation. The catechist also participates in planning meetings and formation sessions.

RCIA Sponsor

The sponsor walks with the RCIA candidate as a fellow Christian and source of support on his/her faith journey. The sponsor spends time at catechetical sessions with the candidate and introduces the candidate to the people of the parish and to various customs and traditions of our faith.

RCIA Hospitality Resource

The Hospitality Resource person provides a snack for about 20 people once a month for RCIA sessions or other sacramental events. Just as the catechist provides refreshment for the soul, this person provides refreshment for the body.

Baptism Preparation Catechist

The Baptism catechist is part of a team that leads preparation workshops for families seeking Baptism for their infants. These workshops are held every other month.

Baptism Host

The Baptism Host welcomes the family and offers assistance on the day of the child’s Baptism. The time commitment is approximately 30 minutes prior to a liturgy every other month.

Sacrament Preparation Catechist for:

  • Reconciliation
  • 1st Eucharist
  • Confirmation

The Catechist is part of a team that plans and leads sessions for candidates, parents and sponsors preparing to celebrate one of these sacraments.
