The Liturgy of the Hours is the official daily prayer of the Church, marking each time of the day with specific prayers, psalms, canticles, and readings. The two principle "hours" are Morning Prayer (Lauds) and Evening Prayer (Vespers), but there are other hours such as Night Prayer (Compline) and Midday Prayer that one can keep as well.
The Liturgy of the Hours can be prayed individually or communally. At Holy Infant we pray Evening Prayer (Vespers) together in the Chapel during the Advent and Lent seasons on Wednesdays at 6:30 pm. We also pray Morning Prayer in the Chapel at 9am on Good Friday and Holy Saturday. Morning and Evening Prayer generally take about 20-25 minutes to pray.
Please see the list to the right for resources for praying the Liturgy of the Hours.
