As Catholic-Christians, we are called to serve others using our God-given gifts & talents. We were given the most perfect example of what it means to love God and love your neighbor as yourself through Jesus Christ. The twoyear process of preparation for Confirmation moves beyond attendance of Catechetical sessions, but also encompasses participation in social events for faith-filled community building, retreats for deep and meaningful experiences within our faith, and putting faith into action through service of others in our parish and in the greater community. This is what it means to live your faith out loud!
While we do not ask you to record every single service opportunity you participate in, you should engage in service activities throughout the preparation process. These service activities can be through Holy Infant, TYM, school or an independent pursuit of service. Please list three service opportunities you have participated in over the past two year (2019-2020 or 2020-2021 years). Recall the Corporal Works of Mercy or Peace, Justice & Human Concerns ministries, they are a good starting point for what constitutes service. If these were not with Holy Infant or TYM, they should be verifiable.
(Service opportunities may not include collecting financial donations for a charitable organization or any acts of kindness to which you received compensation for.)
Please write a 2-paragraph reflection on your experience from one of these service opportunities.
The first paragraph should recount what took place during service (I.e. what did you do? Who did you do this with? How did you find out about this opportunity? Give me a little background on the organization or population served)
The second paragraph is a self-reflection (I.e. how did this project use your gifts and talents? How did it feel to work with this group/organization etc.? How are you going to continue service beyond Confirmation preparation?)
