DeSales Service Works

DeSales Service Works is a Catholic service organization sponsored by the Oblates of St. Francis de Sales and based in the heart of Camden, New Jersey.  At Holy Infant, we have used this model to create our own service retreats for youth with adult chaperones here in the Durham Community. 

A DSW retreat is an opportunity to spend time away for service activities, prayer and reflection to deepen one’s Christian vision and more readily recognize the need and the power of Christian virtues for every place in which we find ourselves. 

A typical DSW day involves:

• Visiting a community organization and complete tasks to share Christ's love throughout Durham
• Salesian spirituality and reflection
• Social fun with teens at Holy Infant!

There is no cost to participate! Exact meeting times will vary depending on the needs of the location we are serving, but the typical time range is ~9am-3pm.

During summer 2024, we served at the Durham Community Food Pantry, Urban Ministries of Durham, the Diaper Bank, and Welcome Baby!
