Gifts filled the hallways and extended out the door of the Parish Center on Saturday, December 5 as parishioners poured in to return their Share Your Christmas gifts.
Coordinators Isabel Wright and Love Anderson were overwhelmed with the generosity in a year when many of us are struggling ourselves.
“We have collected more gifts this year than ever before, over $20,000 of gifts, coats, and cards. But most importantly, we collected joy and hope. We will ensure that over 300 people know that someone is invested in helping to keep them warm and willing to share the true meaning of Christmas,” they said.
Holy Infant has truly helped to brighten Christmas for families in need this year. Those 300 individuals will soon begin receiving their much-anticipated gifts from their social workers.
Gift card donations this year totaled $5,470, which outpaced last year’s gifts by more than $800. The gift cards will be distributed to Durham Social Services, Families Moving Forward, Pregnancy Support Services, Baby Love and to Holy Infant for additional special needs.
Months of planning and coordinating with the Holy Infant Leadership Team, the Knights of Columbus, Durham Social Services, Welcome Baby, Baby Love, Pregnancy Support Services and Families Moving Forward culminated in record generosity.
“So many families during this pandemic have so many things to worry about, but it’s nice to know that we helped to carry one burden and bring joy and peace to those who needed it most,” said coordinator Love Anderson.
