The numbers are in for 2019 and local food pantries received 2,524 pounds of produce from Holy Infant's Food Justice Garden.
Included in that total is 273 pounds of food donated
through the Lettuce Pray program, in which parishioners contribute food from their home gardens. In addition, the garden nearly doubled the weight of sweet potatoes produced in 2019 over 2018 totals from 37 to 75 pounds.

Holy Infant donates food year-round as we are able to:
Durham Community Pantry
FarmerFoodShare at Sourg Durham Farmers' Market
Feed My Sheep (Shepherd House @Main/Driver)
End Hunger Durham (Preiss-Steele, Hosiery Mill) Parkwood PTA pantry (now hosted by Parkwood UMC church)
According to Bobi Gallagher, who co-coordinates the ministry with Joanie Novak, the focus is on our immediate area so all the food goes to homes in Durham.
"As members of the Durham Farm and Food Network, we work on partnering with pantries close to us and/or close to the efforts of End Hunger Durham (Feed My Sheep and the senior living complexes)" which is part of the network, she said.
During the winter months, volunteers are still needed. Bobi and Joanie welcome all the wonderful families of Holy Infant to come out and work in our garden.
