Throughout this year, your donations to the Charity and Justice fund have helped us keep our commitment to community organizations even when we can’t be there in person.
Holy Infant provides support to many groups locally including Urban Ministries of Durham, Families Moving Forward, the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina, the Durham Community Food Pantry and more through donations of food, collected and grown, and financial support.
Because of our generosity, these organizations are thriving and have expressed their gratitude to the parish. Here are some of the ways in which our gifts are recognized and put to use:
Families Moving Forward: Our contribution to the 2020 Virtual Chefs for Change Gala Online Auction was part of the $20,000 raised to continue FMF’s work supporting families experiencing homelessness during the pandemic.
Urban Ministries of Durham: Our parish continues to support a monthly meal at the shelter through frequent financial support, a catered meal once a month and now with food donations from the parish for the monthly shelter dinner. Thank you to all those who donated food as well as money for future shelter dinner needs during the food drop-off on February 14. The March shelter dinner signup is now open.
Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina: Our parish recently donated to this group that works to provide healthy food to families and seniors in need.
Durham Community Food Pantry: This group has received some of the 4,500 pounds of food we have grown this year and nearly 7,000 pounds of donated food from two food drives. Learn about how DCFP is helping people avoid eviction.
All these donations are made possible through monthly contributions to our Charity and Justice fund. You make a difference and Holy Infant along with these organizations thank you!
