Filling the need for volunteers during the pandemic has been a challenge for the Durham Community Food Pantry here in Durham.
Many of their usual volunteers are in a high-risk demographic for COVID complications and distancing measures limit the number of volunteers who can occupy the space, according to Program Director David Juarez.
An appeal to local parishes in the spring brought fresh volunteers into the fold. However, Juarez noted recently that the pantry will need more volunteers soon as many are returning to work and school. Learn more about volunteer positions on the pantry's website.

Food donations are also welcome. Individuals can drop off food donations Monday-Thursday 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the pantry in Lakewood Shopping Center in Durham.
Monetary donations also help DCFP in providing financial assistance to families struggling to keep their utilities on and a roof over their heads.
