On Dec. 10, the Durham County Board of Adjustment will finalize the Special Use Permit or SUP approval for the construction of our new church. The permitting process has moved quickly from the time we hired Dunn & Dalton in March to the expected finalization of the Special Use Permit next week. That approval opens the door to our next steps in the project.
We will make every effort to keep you informed on the building project's progress and how that will affect access to our campus. An interactive timeline is now available online.
Here's the expected sequence of events over the next six months (upon approval of the SUP):
Site and land disturbing permits granted, pre-construction meetings with the county, mobilization of equipment and workers to the site, and establishment of the construction zone.
More in-depth site work that includes erosion control measures, storm drainage systems, stump and additional tree removal, and demolition of existing concrete/asphalt
Concrete construction activities that include pouring footings, foundation walls and slab.
Beginning of steel erection of the building.
Ongoing activities include interior design and procurement of items for the church along with review and approval of the building progress by inspectors.
Your continued support, prayers and patience are appreciated as we embark on this exciting time for our parish.
