Our parish remains engaged in learning and reflecting on racism. Several small groups of parishioners, teens and adults alike, continue to be engaged in learning and reflecting on racism in our country. The initial group that gathered to share thoughts on the USCCB pastoral letter, Open Wide Our Hearts, continues to meet several times a month to discuss articles and share thoughts and experiences related to racism. For more information, contact Lynn Sale or Lea Chiquito. During the month of August, a small group of teens and youth leaders spent Sunday evenings in dialogue together addressing racism and pursuing intentional avenues for justice and equality. This past Sunday, fifteen youth and five adult youth leaders came together for an outdoor movie event to watch Remember the Titans, and discuss racial healing and reconciliation, as well as hopes for the future. Visit the Addressing Racism page for newly posted articles and videos, including a faith dialogue titled “On Race, Our Catholic Faith, and Our Durham Community” featured local panelists Ava Thompson, Keith Daniel and Reynolds Chapman.
